Welcome! Thank you for visiting Flowers by Grace's website! Hopefully you enjoyed looking at some of my work!
I'd like to begin my blog with a brief history of what motivated me to become a floral designer.
I'd like to begin my blog with a brief history of what motivated me to become a floral designer.
Flowers have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. At about 5 years old I was growing and taking pride in my very own garden. From the beginning there was always more flowers then vegetables planted in that little patch of soil. I was continually picking wild flowers (dandelions and violets where a staple of course) and garden flowers I had grown and arranging them in vases for my mom who was forever a good sport and encouraging my creativity.
By the time I was fourteen, family and friends began to hire me to arrange flowers for gifts and even a few weddings. It was then that I came to the realization that I could do this thing, that was so far only a hobby, as a career and getting paid to share something that I loved seemed like a good deal! Further influencing my decision was the role model of my Great Aunt Ruth who is also a florist and, in years past, owner of her own floral business. Offering her prayers and support, Aunt Ruth is to this day a great inspiration and helped me decide on my business name, Flowers by Grace.
After working out of my home for a couple years, working at a few local floral shops, and taking a class on floral design I was ready to spread my wings and tackle running my own official business. I have now been located at a beautiful garden center in Cass City called Flowers Galore & More for about 2 1/2 years. This arrangement has been a fantastic fit for my growing business and has allowed me to meet many local people who have been a joy!
It is an amazing gift to share something I love so much! The ability to express creativity and love and happiness through the medium of flowers is what makes it all not only so much fun, but also so rewarding! I firmly believe I have one of the best jobs ever!
